Discover Jersey

Jersey is an island and the sea is never far away. Clear water and beaches surround some 45 miles of coastline – Jersey’s greatest natural treasure – and a comprehensive network of footpaths enables the visitor to walk the majority of the islands perimeter.

The wide sandy bays in the south are perfect for water sports such as canoeing, wake boarding, water skiing, jet skiing and windsurfing, whilst the rocky bays in the north have superb sheltered diving sites and excellent fishing. The water off the south-eastern coast is relatively calm and shallow, so good for the less experienced swimmer and also for children, whilst the west coast, with waves that haven’t touched land for 3,000 miles is a haven for surfers! Dramatic cliffs in the north offer spectacular scenery and stunning vistas.

Whether you are seeking high culture in the form of the performing arts, art galleries, potteries or local crafts, Jersey offers the visitor a rich array of artistic possibilities. The Island's craft shops are situated out of town in attractive country and coastal settings. All privately owned, they are interesting to visit and provide an excellent source of ideas for gifts and mementoes.

The greatest concentration of people live in St. Helier whose busy streets, squares, lanes and pedestrianised areas create a pleasant atmosphere for browsing and buying. During the summer, St.Helier comes alive with a varied and original programme of street entertainment.
